It’s a rivalry that’s captured the interest of college football fans for decades. And, we were excited for a chance to witness the matchup between the University of Michigan Wolverines and the Ohio State University Buckeyes firsthand during the long Thanksgiving weekend.
The intense rivalry between these two teams provided the perfect backdrop to our final stop on the Wendy’s College Tailgate Tour, as they met for the 113th time. The Wolverines had lost five straight against the Buckeyes in recent years, marking one of its longest droughts against its fiercest foe, but remained hopeful. Despite sluggish performances since their 31-point loss to Iowa, the Buckeyes were looking to muster enough motivation to extend its winning streak over That School Up North.
Ahead of the game, the TCL eSports Lounge was positioned immediately next to one of the major entrances into to Michigan Stadium. This brought in plenty of fans who played games including Madden NFL on Xbox, and caught up on other live sports on TCL P6- and C8-Series TVs.
Fans visiting the lounge were also able to meet special guests, including former NFL and Ohio State offensive tackle Orlando Pace, as well as NFL running back and former Michigan quarterback Denard Robinson. Robinson was especially a fan favorite, drawing a long line of Michigan admirers. He even conducted a radio broadcast from within the TCL eSports Lounge.
Following kick off, fans were treated to an eventful, rollercoaster of a game. Although the Wolverines started strong and quickly took the lead, it was No. 8 ranked Ohio State that came from behind to beat Michigan 31-20, marking the Buckeyes' sixth straight win in the storied rivalry.
This game was a great way to end an unforgettable tailgate tour, which took us to some of the best matchups in college football. We gave tailgaters the chance to enjoy a unique eSports gaming experience on gameday, and in return we were able to meet some of the most passionate fans in sports.
